How is exact age calculated?
Whole years first, then whole months, then leftover days — borrowing from the previous month when the day of the month hasn't been reached yet. Someone born on 15 June 1990 is 35 years, 11 months and 28 days old on 12 June 2026, and turns 36 three days later.
How do leap-year birthdays work?
If you were born on 29 February, your birthday is treated as 1 March in common years (the convention used in most countries). Your exact age in days is unaffected — it's a simple count of days lived.
Why do age in months and age in days disagree with rough estimates?
Months vary from 28 to 31 days, so '36 months' and '1,095 days' aren't interchangeable. This calculator counts calendar months exactly and days exactly, which is why both are shown.
